The Story
Hello there! My name is Monica, and I'm a proud South Dakotan who transplanted myself from the serene Great Plains to the eclectic vibes of Venice Beach back in 2014. I have a passion for vibrant communities and colors, which resonates through my paint brush and on to the canvases. You might see me around, cruising on my bike, enjoying a coffee, or snarfing down a burger...possibly all at the same time.
The Process
Books, vacations, conversations...it's hard to say when and where inspiration will strike. I freehand everything either from my mind or maybe a reference photo, but using projectors or digital tools are just not in my bag of tricks. I don't have a designated studio space, so I just set up wherever the lighting is good and the vibe feels right.
The Art
Acrylic on canvas is my jam, but a close second is chalkboard murals, preferably walls, and then the occasional graphite pencil sketch. Call it a comfort zone, but I know what I like and I like what I do :)
